Home Delivered Meals

The Home Delivered Meals Program provides meals to individuals who are temporarily or permanently homebound.  These meals meet at least one-third of a person’s recommended daily nutritional requirement.

Home Delivered Meals are delivered to rural areas as well as cities and towns.

 

The Home-Delivered Meals program provides homebound senior citizens with:

§  A Nutritious Meal

§  Social Interaction

§  Health Monitoring

§  Support

§  Independence

§  Self- Sufficiency

 

Many Elderly Individuals Need Home Delivered Meals- The Statistics

  • Currently, 3.4 million seniors age 65 and older live below the poverty line.  

 

  • During 1999-2000, 10.9% of low-income food-insecure elderly households used a senior meals type program to get their nutrition.

 

  • Georgia ranked 15th in the category of low or very low food security *
