Middle Georgia Community Action Agency, Inc./Heart of Georgia Community Action Council announced last week that Jennifer Floyd has been promoted to Community Services Director.
Floyd joined the staff of MGCAA in 2002 as a personal support aid in the Home Health Services program and was promoted to Administrative Assistant.
She advanced to the role of Community Services Coordinator in 2011, a position in which she oversaw the operations of the community service centers across a nine-county area. In that role, she also managed Heart Homes, MGCAA’s low-income apartment complex.
Most recently, she led the Dodge County Youth Center for the organization.
“Jennifer has been an exceptional member of the MGCAA team for 22-plus years,” said Executive Director Tammy Sosebee. “I’m excited to see her lead the community services division because she brings a depth of hands-on experiences in our programs, and she leads with a passion for lifting people higher.”
Floyd said she is excited to lead community services and feels it is a natural progression in her dedication to the work of the agency.
“My commitment to my career, colleagues, friends, and family is deeply rooted in the practical and compassionate wisdom of my grandfather,” said Floyd. “He emphasized the importance of treating others as you would like to be treated and the value of kindness, as we can never truly know the hardships others may have faced.”
Floyd lives in Eastman with her husband and three children. She is said to be an avid outdoorswoman, enjoying both hunting, fishing, cookouts, and campfires, and is a collector of vintage treasures.
MGCAA was established in 1974 to improve the quality of life for individuals and families living in the central part of Georgia by addressing the causes and conditions of poverty through targeted programs and services. The agency’s service area covers nearly 20 percent of Georgia, including Upson County.
